On September 5th, I testified against the proposed health insurance rate increases sought by Anthem Health Plans and ConnectiCare Benefits Inc., at the public hearing conducted by the Connecticut Insurance Department.
As reported by the Courant, individual plans will have an average increase of about 2.7%, down from a requested average requested increase of about 12%. I have included the Hartford Courant article on the rate hike request being slashed and also information from the Insurance Department for your information.
Any increase in health insurance is too much but at least the 9 – 13% increases by Anthem Health Plans and ConnectiCare were slashed. I will continue to be your voice at these hearings and before the Insurance and Real-Estate Committee at the Legislature, fighting rate increases whenever they are proposed.
